Misa and I enjoyed taking dancing lessons from Monika. Besides being an fabulous and graceful dancer herself she is an excellent dance teacher that motivates and is very patient with us.

By taking group lessons from her with our friends, Misa and I no longer feel left out sitting on the sidelines, tapping our feet, watching others dance at parties anymore. Frequently now, we are the first to jump onto the dance floor when the music starts whether it be Waltz; Foxtrot; Rumba or Cha-cha. My husband and I have been taking dancing lessons with Monika Dubovska for the last 3 years. We started with 12 friends, all of us worse than beginners. It is said that our "first teachers leave the most lasting impressions in our lives". So it is with my first ballroom dance teacher, Roberto Cavallo. I began my ballroom dancing 'career' late in life. I took my very first International Latin step with Roberto three years ago, at the age of 52. He brought me to my first Pro/Am competition in October, 2007 and lead me to International Latin/Bronze ProAm Champion at the Manhattan Dance Sport Competition in 2008! Roberto is a wonderful teacher; he takes pride in his students. He is strong in discipline and technique balanced by compassion and care towards his students, recognizing and meeting each of their individual needs. My journey with Roberto has been one filled with hard work, musicality, laughter, confidence, pride and the love of dance. He has laid the foundation for me to grow - he has given me the wings to fly - or, the feet to dance to the beat!

Shortly after my first year of dance instruction, I had come to realize that I wanted a deeper, richer quality of learning. There was something missing. I wanted more than just steps - I wanted "the whole package" - confident attitude, accuracy and precision of movement - that "WOW" look. The moment that I danced with Roberto, I realized that I had found a Gold Mine in terms of his knowledge, level of expertise and his willingness to and ability to teach what he knew in a productive way. I quickly became very committed with an insatiable desire to learn all that Roberto had to offer even though at times the journey was tough and difficult. With his personal warmth, genuine sense of concern and caring, his passion for dance and his love of teaching, we embarked on a wonderful journey of ProAm competitions together over 2 years. All were very special but the "big win" happened last September 2008. We competed Pro Am at the USDC in Orlando, Florida. I came in 2nd place in the National Championships - Bronze Level Latin. Sadly for me, the East Coast lost Roberto to "Sunny California" (and why not?) but lucky for any of you who choose to take your dancing to the next level - adding polish and class - with all the work that it takes - that you will not regret - I promise you!

First thing comes to my mind is that we have lots of fun with a group of friends learning to dance with Monika Dubovska. She is a talented and beautiful dancer. She has inspired us all to dance. To learn to dance well in my opinion, it is important to have the right guidance and right model and Monika provides those elements and the right chemistry.

Monika has been our ballroom dance instructor for the last three years. We as a group are very happy and satisfied with her as our instructor. She has a large repertoire of all the ballroom dances. She is very knowledgeable of all the dances and knows how to present them to her students in a way that is easy to learn and to follow. Another strong attribute of her is that she can tell each student, even in a good size group, what is wrong with his or her steps and how to correct it. She keeps us interested in the dance by teaching the basic steps first and builds on gradually with forms and styles. From knowing nothing about dancing, my husband and I enjoy dancing in all settings with confidence today. We look forward to another three years of dancing with Monika for fun and good health.

I met Monika and Roberto after taking dance lessons for too long in franchise dance studios. While each is an outstanding Latin dance competitor, both have a unique ability to clearly instruct and reach students that very few dance instructors share. After many failed attempts at identifying great dance instructors, Monika and Roberto stand alone and clearly outshine other dance instructors. When taking a dance lesson, you can be assured that the dance lesson was carefully planned according to your abilities. Sometimes people come into your life - even briefly - and leave their mark so that you can never forget them. I won't bore you with the story of how the moons aligned and we met Roberto and Monika. Because we are on the East Coast though, our paths crossed for a period shorter than I would have liked. Our intersection could not have been any more important had it lasted ten times longer. We got to enjoy Roberto's company, advice, and personality. With Monika, we managed to experience all that, and dance instruction as well. It really isn't fair to generalize it as 'dance instruction' because with Monika it is much more than that. Sure, she took some syllabus patterns we knew … massaged them.. polished them .. added styling … So now they look and feel completely different than the studio steps. (The ladies still smile when I lead them! Thanks Monika!). She is an absolute pleasure to work with...witty...patient...knowledgeable. She is certainly all of these things. But she really made me/us understand that with better technique we would enjoy dancing more and more. She could not be more right. While on our journey, she was there to point the way that is the one thing that has made all the difference.

We recently began coaching with Mr. Roberto Cavallo and Ms. Monika Dubovska over a period of one year, and during that time we as a couple have experienced accelerated growth and new heights. What drew us to these coaches is the dedication that Mr. Cavallo and Ms. Dubovska put into their students. They invest their time, emotions, and support into their competitive couples. They consistently attend their student's competition heats, providing not only invaluable emotional support at the event, but also the much coveted live feedback based on the couple's actual competition performance. Mr. Cavallo has been essential with the "softening" of the Latin dancing, providing valuable feedback and instruction in knowing when to dance relaxed without sacrificing form. Mr. Cavallo believes that dancing should flow smoothly and continuously with each step leading into the next. This not only helped improve my individual dancing but also makes dancing feel easier which helps our stamina during competition.

Together as a coaching team, Mr. Cavallo and Ms. Dubovska's contributions have been the "breath of fresh air" that has enhanced amateur dancing careers. We are privileged to associate with them and look forward to continuing to work with these fine individuals.

Monika and Roberto make dancing SUPER fun and very easy to learn.

Learning how to dance can be very intimidating, that's why I didn't start for so long. But Monika and Roberto are very friendly, and their calm and relaxed teaching style takes the pressure out of learning how to dance.

When I first met Monika over three years ago, I had never danced before in my entire life. You can say that I've got two left feet. However, Monika taught me how to move to the rhythm, and in no time at all, I was able to dance complete routines. And for guys who want to learn how to dance, Roberto can teach you how to be the manly man.

Monika and Roberto are like a step-by-step guide book to dancing - kind of like "Dancing for Dummies". That's why I still take lessons with them. In fact, they've been coaching me through competitions. Seriously! Me - Mr. Clumsy - competing! Had I met Monika and Roberto earlier, I certainly would've started dancing so much sooner!
